INTERNATIONAL AUCTIONEER
SPECIALIST, IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART
Mr. Tom Best - Christie's Auction House
Having passed through the rigorous selection and training process, Tom qualified as a Christie’s auctioneer in 2012, setting the bar as one of the youngest to take to the rostrum in the company’s long history.
Previous to this Tom had completed a Masters degree in History of Art at the University of St Andrews, where he focused on the late works of Pablo Picasso, before joining the Christie’s Impressionist & Modern Art department in London where he worked as a specialist for four years. Now, alongside his role as auctioneer, Tom is a specialist in Post-War and Contemporary Art, where his passion for art history continues to thrive.
Taking 52 auctions last year alone, Tom can frequently be seen wielding the gavel for Christie's both in its South Kensington and revered King Street auction rooms, and whilst travelling extensively for charity auctions across the globe where he has so far helped raise over £3.5 million for selected charities.
